Math Contests: A Great Way to Make Math Fun! If you are looking for a way to get your homeschooled children loving math, contests may be the way to go. Math contests make math fun, like a game. A contest not only motivates a person, but also helps him learn. Competitions offer review, new approaches, and speed improvement, not to mention increased standardized test scores. Contests which can be entered by individual students are a great way for homeschoolers to enjoy math contests without having to locate a team to work with. Our Contest Chart for Individuals includes descriptions, prizes, fees, deadlines, and links. Another great way to increase excitement for math is attending a regional math meet. Usually individuals can participate, even if they don't have a team. Our Regional Meets Chart will help you find a competition that is near you. If you are looking for suggestions on excellent math curriculum, you can look at my Math Curriculum Reviews page, which lists some of our family's favorite math materials. Check out my Helpful Articles to find a great discussion of how math competitions can enrich your math curriculum.
